2. Accepting these terms

By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

You must be at least 18 years old to place an order or enter into any contract with us. If you are under 18, you may browse but not transact.

6. Content on this site

We take care to keep the site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that every description, image, measurement guide or timeline is complete or error-free. Photography is representative: handcrafted pieces vary, and colour reproduces differently across screens.

Nothing on this site is an offer to sell. It is an invitation for you to make an offer, which we may accept or decline. Please see our Terms of Sale.

Where we link to a third-party site, we do so for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, security or privacy practices.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence, and nothing here removes any right you have under the consumer law of that country.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here at the time you use the site. Material changes will be noted with a revised version number and date.

Terms of sale

Every piece we make is made to order. These terms set out how a commission works, what each of us commits to, and what happens if something changes.

1. What these terms cover?

These terms apply to every commission placed with Lehenga Lovestory, whether through this website, in conversation with us on WhatsApp, in our studio, or at an exhibition. They form a contract between you and [LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME].

Read alongside these terms: Pricing, Payments & Taxes; Cancellations, Returns & Exchanges; Fit, Measurements & Alterations; and Shipping, Delivery & Customs. Where those pages give detail, they form part of this contract.

2. Everything is made to order

We do not hold finished garments. We make nothing in advance and we sell nothing off a rail. Each piece is cut, embroidered and finished for one person, to that person's measurements and chosen specification, after that person has commissioned it.

This matters for three reasons, and we would rather you understood them before you commit than after:

  • Fabric, thread, embellishment and karigar time are committed to your piece from the moment we accept your commission. That commitment cannot be recovered or resold.
  • A piece made to your measurements and specification cannot be offered to anyone else.
  • Consequently, once we have accepted your commission and the grace window described in clause 09 has passed, it cannot be cancelled for a change of mind.

Where the law in your country gives consumers a right to cancel a distance purchase without giving a reason, that right does not usually apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised. We rely on that exception. Your rights where a piece is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality are unaffected and are set out in clause 12.

3. Your order is an offer; our confirmation is acceptance

When you place an order, you are making us an offer. No contract exists at that point.

A contract is formed only when we confirm your commission in writing — by email or on WhatsApp from a Lehenga Lovestory number. We aim to do this within 48 hours.

Until we confirm, you may withdraw your order and we will refund everything you have paid in full, including any Design Commitment fee.

4. We may decline a commission

We may decline any order, or withdraw at any point before confirmation, without giving a reason. Reasons might include a timeline we cannot meet at the standard we hold ourselves to, a specification we are not the right house for, a pricing or listing error, or the material becoming unavailable.

If we decline, we refund everything you have paid, in full.

5. The design commitment

Consultations are free. When you decide to move from conversation into design, we ask for a Design Commitment of [DESIGN_COMMITMENT_AMOUNT]. It is adjusted in full against the price of your piece.

The Design Commitment opens design work: sketches, swatching, and where the piece calls for it, sample and patch development with our karigars.

If you decide not to continue, what happens to the Design Commitment depends on how much work has been done. This is set out in Pricing, Payments & Taxes.

6. How payment works?

Every commission is paid in three parts.

Tranche When it falls due? What it covers?
50% On our written confirmation of your commission Secures your place in the making calendar and commits fabric and karigar time to your piece.
40% Within 5 working days of design and measurement sign-off, before cutting begins Releases the piece into production.
10% On dispatch notification, before the piece ships. Settles the commission. We confirm your delivery address and any final details at this point.

The Design Commitment is adjusted against the first tranche.

7. Sign-off, delay & re-quotation

Design and measurement sign-off should be reached within 21 days of our confirming your commission. We will keep in touch through that period.

If sign-off is delayed beyond 21 days for reasons on your side, we may re-quote the commission or pause it, and any delivery date we have discussed lapses. We will tell you before either happens.

If the second or third tranche is not paid when due, we pause work. If it remains unpaid 14 days after we ask, we may cancel the commission and retain what you have paid to the extent of the cost we have already incurred, returning any balance.

8. Measurements, trials & fit

Fit is a shared undertaking and the rule we work to is straightforward: whoever takes the measurement carries the risk of it.

  • Where we measure you, or where measurements are taken at a trial we supervise, fit is our responsibility and any alteration needed is ours to make at our cost.
  • Where you send us your own measurements, they are yours to get right. We will guide you, and we will flag anything that looks unusual, but alterations needed because a submitted measurement was inaccurate are chargeable beyond the included rounds.
  • Sign-off at trial means fit is accepted. Changes to your body after that point are chargeable.

Full detail is in Fit, Measurements & Alterations.

9. Changing your mind: the grace window

For 48 hours after we confirm your commission, you may cancel and we will refund everything except the Design Commitment.

After that window closes, a commission cannot be cancelled for a change of mind, for the reasons in clause 02. This does not affect your rights if something is wrong with the piece — see clause 12 — or if we are the cause of a delay, see clause 11.

10. Timelines

We will give you an indicative making window when we confirm your commission, and a firmer date as the piece progresses. Indicative windows are estimates, not guarantees. Hand embroidery does not run to a fixed clock, and we would rather move a date than send you something we are not proud of.

If a date is critical — and for a wedding it usually is — tell us before you commission, and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it. If we cannot, we will say so rather than take the order.

11. If we are late

We’re adding more soon.

12. If something is wrong

If your piece arrives faulty, damaged, materially different from what was agreed, or not of satisfactory quality, tell us within 7 days of delivery with photographs. We will put it right — by repair, by remaking, or by refunding you. Which of those we do is our choice, made in good faith and with your date in mind.

Nothing in these terms removes or reduces any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or under the consumer law of the country where you live.

13. What is not a fault?

These pieces are made by hand. The following are characteristics, not defects, and we mention them plainly because they are the difference between a handmade piece and a manufactured one:

  • Slight variation in embroidery density, stitch and placement between pieces, and across a single piece.
  • Small irregularities in hand-dyed and hand-woven fabric, including slubs and colour movement across a length.
  • Colour differing from what you saw on screen. Screens vary; we will send physical swatches wherever a colour matters.
  • Minor loosening of embellishment through wear, which we will repair — see Care & Repair.
14. Title & Risk

Risk passes to you on delivery. Title passes when we have received payment in full.

15. Circumstances beyond our control

We’re adding more soon.

16. Our liability

We’re adding more soon.

17. Governing law & disputes

This contract is governed by the laws of India. The courts at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh have jurisdiction, without removing any right you have to bring a claim where you live.

Privacy policy

What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

[LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME], [REGISTERED_ADDRESS], Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, is the data fiduciary. Contact [GRIEVANCE_EMAIL].

2. What we collect & why?

We’re adding more soon.

3. Your measurements & body data

To make a piece for you we record detailed measurements. We treat this as sensitive information. It is visible only to the people making your piece, it is not used for any other purpose, and it is kept only so that we can serve you again without asking you to measure yourself twice.

We’re adding more soon.

4. Consent & taking it back

5. Who we share your information with?

Cancellations & Returns

What you can change, when you can change it, and what we do if something is wrong.

1. The short version
Where you are When you can do?
Before we confirm Cancel for any reason. Full refund of everything, including the design commitment.
Within 48 hours of confirmation Cancel for any reason. Full refund except the design commitment.
After 48 hours The commission cannot be cancelled for a change of mind. Fabric and karigar time are already committed to your piece.
Anything is wrong with the piece Tell us within 7 days of delivery. We repair, remake or refund.
We cancel, or cannot serve you Full refund, always.
2. Why a commission cannot be cancelled?

We hold no finished stock. Nothing exists until you commission it. When we confirm your commission we commit fabric, embellishment and karigar hours to your piece specifically, and we place you in a making calendar that another bride cannot take. A piece cut to your measurements and made to your specification cannot be offered to anyone else.

This is the trade a made-to-order house asks you to accept, and we would rather be plain about it at the beginning than apologetic about it later.

3. The 48-hour grace window

Commissioning something at this scale is a large decision, sometimes made quickly. So for 48 hours after we confirm your commission, you may change your mind for any reason at all and we will refund everything you have paid except the design commitment.

Tell us on WhatsApp or by email within that window. You do not need to give a reason.

4. If something is wrong

Contact us within 7 days of delivery with photographs showing the issue. We will respond within [DEFECT_RESPONSE_SLA] and tell you what we propose.

Our remedy is repair, remake or refund, at our election, exercised in good faith and with your date in mind. Where a date is close, we will usually propose the fastest route to a piece you can wear.

These rights are in addition to, and do not replace, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the consumer law of your country.

5. What is not a fault?

Handcraft variation, small irregularity in hand-woven and hand-dyed fabric, and colour reproducing differently on your screen are characteristics of the work rather than defects. This is set out in full in the Terms of Sale, clause 13.

6. Hygiene

For reasons of hygiene we cannot accept the return of blouses, inner garments or any piece that has been worn, other than where the piece is faulty.

7. Alterations are not returns

Most fit concerns are alteration questions rather than return questions, and alterations are usually the better answer. Please see Fit, Measurements & Alterations.

8. If we cancel

If we cancel a commission at any stage, or find we cannot complete it to the standard we hold, we refund you in full. We will also help you find another house if your date requires it.

9. How refunds are paid?

Refunds go back to the method you paid from, in the currency you paid in, within [REFUND_TURNAROUND] of us agreeing them.

For payments made in a currency other than Indian Rupees, the amount you receive may differ slightly from the amount you paid, because of exchange rate movement and your bank's charges. That difference is not a shortfall we are able to make up. Please see Pricing, Payments & Taxes.

Shipping & Customs

Where we deliver, how long it takes, and who pays what at the border.

1. Where we deliver

We deliver across India, and internationally to the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia and Singapore. Elsewhere, write to us and we will tell you what is possible.

2. Duties & Taxes

For our named international markets, duties and taxes are included in the price you are shown. Nothing further is payable when your piece arrives.

For other destinations, duties are payable by you on arrival.

3. Dispatch & Delivery estimates

We’re adding more soon.

4. Title & Risk

Risk passes on delivery; title on payment in full.

5. Address accuracy

Please check your delivery address carefully. We confirm it with you before dispatch. Where a piece is returned to us because an address was incorrect or nobody was available to receive it, redelivery is chargeable at cost.

6. Customs delays

Customs authorities may inspect or hold shipments. We provide accurate documentation and will help however we can, but we do not control clearance timelines and cannot guarantee them.

7. Lost or damaged in transit

We’re adding more soon.

Fit & Alterations

How we get the fit right, what is included, and what happens when a body changes.

1. Whoever measures carries the risk

Where we take your measurements, or where they are taken at a trial we supervise, fit is our responsibility. Any alteration needed is ours to make, at our cost.

Where you send us your own measurements, they are yours to get right. We will guide you and flag anything that looks unusual, but alterations needed because a submitted measurement was inaccurate are chargeable beyond the included rounds.

When you submit your own measurements you will be asked to confirm you understand this.

2. Trial & Sign-off

Where a trial is part of your commission, signing off at trial means the fit is accepted. Changes to your body after that point are chargeable.

3. What is included?

We’re adding more soon.

4. If you are outside India

Sending a lehenga back across a border is slow, costly and risky, so for international commissions we work differently: a remote fitting review with our team, and an alteration allowance you can spend with a tailor near you.

5. What alterations do not cover?

We’re adding more soon.

Care & Repair

Our aftercare service, and how to keep a piece well.

Pricing, Payments & Taxes

What things cost, when they are paid, and how currency and tax work across borders.

1. How our prices work?

Prices shown on this site are starting prices, marked "from". A commission is priced individually once the specification is settled: fabric, embroidery density, technique, and the hours the piece asks for.

We will give you a written price before you commit to anything. A quotation holds for [QUOTE_VALIDITY] days.

2. Consultations & the design commitment

Consultations are free, in person or remote, for as long as you need them.

Design work begins with a Design Commitment of [DESIGN_COMMITMENT_AMOUNT], adjusted in full against the price of your piece.

If you decide not to continue

Where the work has reached What happens?
Design Commitment paid, no design session held Refunded in full, within 7 working days. Nothing has been consumed.
Design session held, direction and sketches shared, no material committed Held as a credit for the full amount, valid 12 months, and transferable within your immediate family.
Swatching, sampling or patch development begun Retained. Karigar time and material have been consumed on your piece.
We cancel, or cannot serve you Refunded in full, at any stage.
3. Payment structure

Every commission is paid in three parts: 50% on our confirmation, 40% on design and measurement sign-off before cutting, and 10% on dispatch. Full detail, including what happens if a tranche is missed, is in the Terms of Sale, clauses 06 and 07.

4. How you can pay?

We do not store your card details. Card payments are handled by our payment provider and tokenised in accordance with Reserve Bank of India directions.

We’re adding more soon.

5. Currency

The currency of your contract with us is Indian Rupees.

Where we show a price in your local currency, that figure is an indicative conversion. It is refreshed periodically and includes a small conversion allowance. The amount actually charged is confirmed at checkout, in the currency you pay in.

Refunds are made in the currency you paid, to the method you paid from. Because exchange rates move and banks charge their own fees, the amount you receive may not exactly match the amount you paid. That difference is not a shortfall we are able to make up.

6. Tax

Prices for delivery within India include GST at the applicable rate. A tax invoice is issued with every commission.

We’re adding more soon.

7. Duties on international commissions

For deliveries to the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia and Singapore, all duties and taxes are included in the price you are shown.Nothing further is payable on arrival.

For every other destination, duties and import taxes are payable by you to the carrier or customs authority on arrival, and are not included in our price. We will tell you before you commit.

8. Price changes

The price we confirm in writing is the price you pay. We do not revise it afterwards for changes in material cost. If you change the specification after sign-off, we re-quote the difference and tell you before proceeding.

Offers & Promotions

General terms applying to every offer, with numbered annexures for individual campaigns.

Intellectual property

Our marks, our designs, our photography, and how they may be referred to.

Image & Story consent

If you let us share your story, this is exactly what you are agreeing to — and how to change your mind.

1. We only ever ask

We never use a customer's photograph, name or story without asking first, in writing, for that specific use. Commissioning a piece from us carries no obligation to appear anywhere.

2. What we ask for?

Where you agree, we ask for a licence to use the imagery and words across our own channels and our paid advertising, worldwide.

3. How you are named?

You choose: full name, first name only, or no name at all.

4. Photographs taken by someone else

Where imagery was taken by your wedding photographer, the copyright usually belongs to them, not to you and not to us. We will need their written permission as well as yours.

5. Paid partnerships

We’re adding more soon.

6. Changing your mind

We’re adding more soon.
